What Is Vinyl Application?

If you’re new to vinyl application it’s the process of sticking vinyl graphics to a range of surfaces such as glass, metal and plastic. Made from flexible PVC sheets it is suitable for many different applications.

It has gained popularity in the print industry because of its versatility and cost-effectiveness as well as its durability with some products lasting seven years or more.

There are three different levels of vinyl adhesive depending on the substrate it will go on and how long it is intended to last for:

  • Monomeric Vinyl – This is the most cost-effective type of vinyl and is suitable for short-term applications and flat panels. It lasts around three to five years and is ideal for event signage, labels and interior graphics.
  • Polymeric Vinyl – This vinyl is a mid-range product lasting five to seven years. It enjoys greater flexibility and durability than monomeric vinyl and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor graphics.
  • Cast Vinyl - MetaMark cast vinyl is a premium product and the most durable out of all three. Suitable for vehicle wraps, high traffic areas and outdoor applications, it is extremely high quality, has minimal shrinkage and lasts seven years or more.

Why MetaMark Vinyls Are the Vinyl Of Choice In The Print Industry

MetaMark is well-known for its high-quality products which enable printers to provide high quality finishes to their customers. But there are specific systems and features which set MetaMark apart from other manufacturers.

The MetaScape adhesive system is a premium grade vinyl which allows air to escape during installation to eliminate air bubbles and ensure a smooth finish. It’s also suitable for a dry application method which results in a durable graphic much sooner after installation.

As well as supplying smooth vinyls for printing, MetaMark has a range of textured vinyls available in distinctive finishes such as crystal etch, frosted and opal haze. These vinyls are ideal for architectural applications and creating striking graphics when covering complete areas of glass.

Additionally, MetaGrab is an adhesive system which provides a high tack solution for applying decals etc. to rough, textured or hard to stick to surfaces. Suitable for use with solvent, eco-solvent, latex and UV printers it is ideal for use on sealed plaster, concrete and floors and lasts seven years outdoors.

Finally, MetaMark’s high quality Apex system offers high performance and provides one of the best solvent-based adhesive bonds with the substrate after application. It also allows for extremely clean removal of a permanent vinyl adhesive.
